About Me
Hello to everyone. My name is Steve Kam Vai and I would like to welcome you to my blog. I’m a C++ programmer with a long-standing interest in computers and technology – these topics will probably feature heavily on my blog.
My fascination with computers began at a very young age – I’m told as soon as I could crawl I was pulling at wires behind the TV, and attempting to unplug various appliances – much to my parents’ horror.
I was fortunate enough to be bought a computer at the age of 8, and after that pretty much had my hands on every computer going. Today, age 24, my main interest is Apple computers.
When I’m not officially working as a programmer, my love of computers spills over into my spare time and I enjoy surfing the web, online gaming and chatting to my friends on MSN. Over the years, I’ve discovered that being in tune with computers does have its disadvantages – distress calls from technophobic neighbours who can’t switch their printer on does become irritating at times – I admit I’m not the most patient of individuals.
Martial arts has also been a big part of my life since my teens – I captained our university team and I still train twice a week for competitions. Watching the Chinese Martial Artist, Jet Li, in films such as Lethal Weapon 4 really inspires me. Perhaps there’s something in me which enjoys speed and power, as I also have a weakness for fast cars…although, at present, owning one is a daydream rather than reality.
Socially, I’m a little shy and quite a homely sort, although I enjoy meeting up with my mates at Laser Quest – I’m often jokingly ridiculed for my competitive streak. My Mum and Dad visit regularly – they’re young at heart and I feel privileged to have a great relationship with them. As none of us drink, we often eat out at traditional Chinese restaurants and meet up with family friends.
I hope everyone will enjoy my blog over the forthcoming months – I aim to make my posts both informative and entertaining. Please do get in touch with any comments, questions or feedback.
Ps. I am not the famous Steve Vai, please direct fanmail elsewhere!
